i wne to the fishing store and purchased nickle plated trout hooks, filed the barb and went fishing a year ago for a hawkfish....caught hiw and didnt hurt him........worked great...........
Wait until the middle of the night and then turn the lights on. The fish will "sleep swim" almost as if it were drunk right out into the open where you can use the net
I had a purple tang that was very cautious. I tried netting him/her at the nori clip. After one try it wouldn't come anywhere near the clip with me nearby. I thought about it for awhile and came up/remembered with a plan. Using materials at hand I cut a piece of 4" PVC 1' long and drilled 2/3 of the length with 1/2" holes. I had some plastic mirror and cut it to fit a 4" PVC cap and capped the un-drilled end. With a cord attached I put it in the tank and the PT would have none of it. I moved it so the open end was right next to it's lair. After two weeks the PT finally ventured in. After two days of watching it try to get after that other PT I quietly slipped a net over the end and he was caught and in the QT. A mirror works with aggressive fish no food was needed. I hope this helps.
