best order for tangs

Hi All,

I plan to have some tangs in my tank (hippo, purple, powder blue, red sea sailfin). I wonder what is the recommended order of introduction of these tangs. I guess the more territorial last.
Also, are small tangs more less aggressive to other tangs than large specimens?

Thank you
Yehuda

Reef Centrals recommendation can be found here. Tangs are highly territorial and require sufficient territory, and some get to be very large.

I am surprised. where can I find minimum tank size for each species?

For Austria you find the governing law here: Gesamte Rechtsvorschrift für 2. Tierhaltungsverordnung, Fassung vom 07.10.2016 (Saltwater fish are at the very end)

F. Doktorfische (Acanthuridae) und Kaninchenfische (Siganidae)
Arten bis 25 cm Lange ab 1 000 l
(Species that reach up to 10" in length, 250 gallons or more)
Arten bis 50 cm Lange ab 5 000 l
(Species that reach up to 20" in length, 1250 gallons or more)
Größere Arten ab 10 000 l
(Larger species, 2500 gallons or more)

1-3 Tiere jedes weiter Tier + 20%
(for 1 to 3 individuals, each additional individual requires 20% more volume)

This is definitely on the high side. Though in Austria you would break the law if you put a tang in anything smaller than a 250 gallon tank.

I would think a purple and powder blue would do fine in a 120g, if both were small and added together. And if I'm wrong about that, I'm sure someone will (loudly) tell me...

At the very least ONE of them (either purple or powder blue) could for sure go in there.

I'd get the purple - slow grower, not quite as mean, less likely to get ich.

Good luck!
