Hello everyone, so I am building a sump for my new reef tank. I live in south st. pete and was wondering if anybody had suggestions for the best places to get tempered glass or acrylic for a sump. I am looking for 1/4" of various sizes listed below:
28"x14"-2
28"x10"-1
9.5"x14"-2
9.5"x10"-4
Thank you in advance!

Farco Plastics in Clearwater sells Cell Cast Acrylic, not sure about 1/4" but I got a quote of $97 for 3/16" 4'x8' + $35 to make all the cuts I requested.

Farco is way overpriced. Give American plastics a call. I could help you out and give you two spare pieces, let me measure the exact dimensions but I know they are both bigger than the last two you need.

That would be great! Any pieces would help! I can come and pick it up or if you decide to go to the TBRC meeting this friday, I can get it from you then. I live about 8 minutes from the location of the meeting.

I'm not going to the meeting. But you are more than welcome to swing by whenever and get them. I'm not too far from St pete. I might end up at the faois garage sale too if you'd want to meet there.

Alright, thank you for all the input, I am going to give american plastics and plasticsamerica calls today to get pricing info. I probably won't be going to faois, but Ill pm you Crazyeyes if I decide to try and swing by largo.

Hey Mike, I just requested a quote from American Plastics for some small pieces of Cell Cast and the guy who replied said he doesn't usually keep cell cast on hand.... are you using extruded from them?

No, I had to order it from them. That's the one thing that is going to cost the most, most local acrylic places won't sell scrap cell cast, unless they have it left over. So you'll be stuck with buying a full sheet. I think if you're looking for small pieces at specific sizes, online would be the way to go. What are you building?

Was thinking about building a little desktop cube.... I've never worked with acrylic and was wanting to do a small project to see if it held together.

I think extruded would be fine for a smaller tank. Marc (MelevsReef) uses extruded on a number of his sumps and I was talking to him on FB a few nights back and he said he's been quite successful using acrylite FF (extruded).
