Best place to buy online?

The petco.com fish come from the same supplier as LA fish, at petco I can get a 4" Sohal for 70$ at LA 349.99$. Same with the Red Sea Regal. Granted petco.com doesn't have the customer service like LA does but the fish come from the same place so is a markup like that warranted for the customer service aspect? Guess that's varies from person to person

It seems LA is having stock issues. Everything seems to say "email when its in-stock"...

Example LA wants $22 for blue neon goby LFS wants $18. But to get free shipping you need to spend $225 :/. I suppose if your doing a big order or something from LA/DD/CC carries and most don't it might be the only option.

Edit- maybe reefs2go.com. I bought some items with no issues. They do tend to spam the email though (some of the ad's reminds me of what a used car salesmen would pitch).

wholesale prices are nothing new...
if petco online gets their act together, perhaps they will be a contender in the online market...
until then, dd, bz, and nya will still be getting the choice pick of the fish as that is their market...for ex., petco online might get in 5 red sea sohals to satisfy inventory and they know they will eventually sell...but dd, bz, and nya will only get in red sea sohals if they are truly top-notch specimens...
I am curious to see what petco does, if they expand their livestock selection, by a lot, and offer wysiwyg or a rare/hard to find fish section, it could become a great resource...
I look forward to ordering from them at some point...there seem to be many satisfied customers..

NYA has emailed me back and said he thinks he will be getting one in this week. Did not expect a returned email over the weekend

I'm not here promoting petco in anyway shape of form, I just hate to see everyone just blindly following and buying from LA. LA customer service is by far the best I have experienced, just not sure if that is worth the extra $. Petco won't ever get their act together, what you can hope for is that the supplier gets fed up with places like petco and LA and start offering fish direct to the public, which I think is a strong possibility in the future!

A company has to break our User Agreement many, many times to be censored here. It is a simple request to play by the rules. Some choose not to.

As for "non sponsors", it is obvious from an even cursory review that there are many companies named on RC that are not sponsors. We have never censored a company based on whether they choose to be a sponsor on RC.

Thank you for the clarification....

"blindly following and buying from LA"?

I would say that the majority of us mention dd, bz, pia, and nya at a minimum when asked about top online vendors...

Petco looks like a good option but some folk are far more particular and want to see the exact specimen they are getting and that is why dd, pia, nya are so important to us...
I have seen some fish on dd that I wanted but was less than impressed with the pic of the fish and so I passed on it...I love having that option...to me, that is huge...
Once Petco can perfect the packing, shipping, and livestock selection they could be one of the go to places...but I am not holding my breath...

Considering no one in the public market will buy a collectors full inventory like the wholesale operations do, the collectors will never sell to the hobbyist direct. To think so is idiotic...

There's a reason for the wholesalers and the chain of command, to brag that you got yourself a tax ID and an account with said wholesaler is double idiotic. LA offers a 14 day guarantee which the wholesaler does not, that guarantee alone is worth the mark up. Just because you're a cheapskate and don't care if you're getting guaranteed healthy specimens doesn't mean you should expect everyone else to follow...

Ok well when this place that I'm referring to starts selling to the public I will remind you that your wrong. Cheapskate? No little guy that's not the case, why buy a 350$ fish when I can get the same one with the same guarantee for 70$? Seems that you aren't very smart if you still are having problems understanding. The wholesaler I'm referring to offers 14 day guarantees so get your facts straight before talking in circles.

Oh and Ian petco online offers a 14 day guarantee also so what was your point about the markup being warrantied for LA fish?

You don't say? Huh well I know that LA and petco aren't buying out Quality Marine,CIS or Tropical Fish Internationals inventory on any fish let alone all of them so again I'm not sure you know what you are talking about.
