Best place to compare masks/fins?

Good fit trumps "quality" in my experience. Do you have a local scuba shop? Hopefully several. At least in that setting you can sample the fit quality of what's available. If you find something that is a good match for your particular contours you can then do some comparison shopping online. My rationale is that I've got feet that don't fit a lot of models very well. Really high instep, small heel. Good luck finding something that either pinches off circulation or falls off despite booties. Masks are an even tougher challenge. You'll want something that accommodates the contours of your face. Don't worry about looking sexy. You want to be as comfortable as possible underwater, especially at depths below 50'. Stuff starts to pinch.

I agree about fit being key decision. I have a bunch of dive shops so I'll just stroll in and see what they have and ask questions. Thanks for the tips.

You can't go wrong with any of the mainstream manufactures. Differences in quality for masks and fins are really just a matter of marketing. Exact choices are all about fit, personal preference and what type of diving you do. Features like purge valves, no purge valve, black silicone mask skirts vs. clear, low volume mask vs standard, split fins vs. not split, somewhat long and flexible vs. stiff fins...etc., etc.

And dont assume that more expensive means better quality. For example i use a mares x-vision mask which is half the price of other masks ive owned and so far is my favorite. Great fit, and most importantly doesnt fog up!

Wen im shopping for gear i usually go on the big online diveshops whos name im not allowed to post, compare the gear in my price range. Than do lots qnd lots of homework about the features of each, then watch youtube reviews and read reviews. Then i find a store that caries the ones im most inerested in so i can try them on... Simple and effective. The internet is your friend
