Best point and shoot under $700

I'm looking for the best point and shot I can get for less than $700 to take coral shots on a tripod. I'm wanting as good as I can get before reaching into the DSLR market and buying a small pro package. I understand the images wont be DSLR quality, I just want as close to it as possible.

any suggestions?
 
I have a Canon SX50HS that I am very happy. It has all the same controls as a DSLR, you just can't change the lens. It's effective zoom range is 35-500mm. It has the added bonus of being able to fit in the pocket of my cargo shorts for hiking. I wanna say ~$350

There are tons out there. The Canon "G" series comes to mind. Make sure the camera shoots in RAW. This will let you adjust the white balance in post processing.
 
Sony Nex 5n is pretty good. I started with that camera. Here are some sample pic I took:
