Best selection of live rock

Which LFS has the best selection of live rock? I have been to dolphin and they want $9.99 a pound for cured Fiji. That seems really high. King and T&T aquariums have the same Fiji rock for $5 a pound but not a good selection. Brians really didnt even have rock so I didnt even bother asking the price. I would love to find some Marshall Island rock if possible. I am in San Jose but I do not mind driving a good distance to get some nice rock. Shipping is way to high to buy online.

all about fish in pleasant hill has fiji for 5.99 a pound and tonga branch for 7.99 a pound. pretty nice pieces, nicely colored given the amount of light and lack of heat they receive.

they have 2 big tanks of both and also have fiji flat pieces and tonga non branching i believe.

They told me they had more in the back as well.. i was happy with the selection of small pieces and large pieces

oh and if you get over 10lbs of fiji its 4.99 lb and over 10lbs of tonga gets you it at 6.99

Even with shipping it's still cheaper than LFS...

Don't forget one thing that at LFS you get to pick what you like. When buying stuff online, you stuck with what they send you. Usually only 1 nice piece in one box. Go to AG. They have a lot of nice big rocks. I think their price is about $6-7 per lbs. The best thing is buying from someone who is leaving the hobby. How much rock do you need anyway? Maybe someone here has extra that they can sell to you.

I am looking to get around 20 - 25 pounds. I wouldnt mind buying the rock from some one. I have looked on craigslist, but not much on there right now.

I echo what GFK said about AAF in Pleasant Hill... we have gotten some really nice pieces of LR there over the years.

all about fish has a nice selection. and that rock has been sitting there for a long time, so it's pretty much cured and maybe half cycled =) They also have rock curing tanks in the back (at least that's what I think they are).

I've seen aiptasia on the live rock though, so best inspect and treat the rocks before throwing it in.

Thanks for the replies. I will go check out AAF and Atlantis this weekend. I did go to Amazon today and he had some nice pieces for a decent price, but I wanted to see what everybody had to say here first before I bought anything.

I got some nice pieces of Tonga branch from both Aquatic Gallery in Milpitas a while back. Oceans Treasures here in the city has a nice selection too.

Much better if you can pick and choose the pieces to design your own aquascape.

BTW here is what aptasia can look like (from another thread- see picture #3)
