Best Skimmer for my application

I am setting up a small tank currently. Aprox 40 gallon display with ~10 gallon sump.

I am having it all custom made and I am wanting to figure out what skimmer I am going to use before having the sump made.

I was looking at the 9002 skimmer, but was told to step up to the 9006, but had others recommend that the 9011 was the better model.
What are the differences in the 9006 & 9011?

My skimmer section is 7.75"x13.5" with a default water level of 7.5" (Should I get the manufacturer to make a deeper water level? My sump is going to be 13" tall.
How deep do I need the water level to be for the 9006/9011 for in sump operation?

Will they fit in this space ok?
Do I need to buy the extension kit to use these in sump?

Thanks,
Josh

9006 is really made for a very specific application- in tank under a canopy, it has a weaker pump and smaller cup. 9011 has a stronger pump, bigger cup and includes the extension kit, by the time you buy a 9006 and add the extension kit you are only $30 from a 9011, the 9011 is the best choice in any sump application for this reason.

With the included extension set installed anything between 4 and 10" will work, 7.5 is ideal as it gives a bit of safety margin if the sump level drops.

Thanks Roger, looks like the 9011 it is. Tank and sump are order now to get the skimmer!

Appreciate the quick response.
