best snail

The best are stometillas, ceriths and nerites

I wouldnt reccomend astreas because if they fall onto, thier back m,they die and turbos I woukdnt reccomend either because they get really big and bulldoze everything in thier path, and if they die.. Thats alot of dying meat in your water.. Ive heard of it crashing systems, before

ceriths are awesome. They eat everything, bury themself in the sand in the day, flip themself over and dont get too big.

IMO, mexican turbos are highly effective but they're a pain in the butt when they knock things over, topple rockwork, fall over and sometimes die.

Right now i've got two fuzzy chitons and i'm loving them, they do real well on the glass. They dont' eat too much but they're pretty small and my crabs cant figure out how to kill them.

Mexican turbos clean the rocks in my tank super quick but I have one hermit crab that is larger than all my others and he always kills my turbo snails. Flips them over and eats them. Thinks he is king shiz.

On my Galaxy S3

If you have an algae problem, turbos will get rid of it the fastest. Nassarius snails Re great too, for the sand bed. Margaritas are the worst, IMO.

As an overall snail, my vote probably goes to mexican turbo or banded trochus. Though honestly I think you are better with a variety than that 'one' best snail.

My list includes: mexican turbo, banded trochus, nerite, nassarius and ceriths. I've heard stomatella's are really good, I had one as a hitchiker, he lasted a day after I saw him before my pom pom crab made a meal out of him lol

Another vote for the turbo snail.

Trochus snails are also good, but they don't show up that often at the various LFS in my area.

Yep, unfortunately turbos are bulldozers. I keep 6 in a 65g, along with some ceriths and a few hitchhiker stomatellas. A dozen small nassarius, and a fighting conch as well.

I think its best to have a mixture of snails for tank but I think I would have to go with cerith followed ny nassarius gotta love how the come out of sand for food

Ceriths just don't do enough for me.. I guess I could have a few dozen, but I still think it takes 6-8 ceriths to equal one turbo.

Regarding snails...Someone mentioned stomatella snails...I always found that they would crawl out of the tank. Nerite snails do a good job of eating algae on glass however, they too are escape artists(always finding them on the floor).

i really like trochus or stomatella. Both breed in tank, but i never see either at LFS. At least stometellas are a very common hitchhiker. You most likely have some and dont know it
