Best SPS Tank Substrate Choices (or lack thereof)

Thanks for the update. I am trying to decide between an inch or so of reefflakes or starboard. I've run bb and ssb in the past and had better success with bb. So I'm thinking of going with starboard.

I really love the look of sand, but both of my prior attempts turned into litter boxes after about 6 months. Maybe larger grain sand and higher flow would help.
