Heys guys im hoping the rimless tank owners can chime in here. I have a 100g 48 x 24 x 20 tank coming in and am wondering whats the best material to put inbetween the tank and the stand.

I work at a wetsuit company so getting 1/8 neoprene cut to order maybe even doubled over wont be an issue if itll work.
Thanks for any help!

Use the white foam sold at home depot in the building material section. It's kinda like styrofoam It's white with blue letterings. I think I used half inch or 3/4.

Mine is Eurobraced but I agree, Insulation foam at HD or Lowes. I used 3/4".

i like the neoprene better
im wondering if should get 2 x 24 x 24 in exercise mats or just use the neoprene that or wetsuits are made of
im worried of Styrofoam cheapening the look of the setup

^^^^ I don't see my styrofoam either. there is a 1" indentation on my stand to hide the foam with trimming. If you haven't built your stand yet you should do something like that.

just wondering what does the styrofoam do? :D

Basically somewhat helps levels the tank and relieve any pressure points on the tank if there were any.

This should only be used on tanks w/o trimming on the button of the tank. But not on tanks like say a 40 breeder that does have trimming.

Does this apply to Oceanic Illuminata 57g as well? Thx.

I wouldnt put any down unless you don't have the trim around the bottom. I didn't use it on my rimless, and I surely wouldn't trust a piece of squishy foam to keep my tank level. If your stand isn't level, how is foam going to make a tank level itself out?

applies to any tank without trim around the bottom

contact any rimless manufacturer and they will tell you to put foam on the bottom of your rimless tank. the foam allows for even weight distribution

just adding my .02 here. A friend got a rimless 60 cube from lee-mar via charlie at fish tank factory. Came with a piece of thin black plastic on the bottom. He contacted lee-mar and they said not to use foam underneath, that is what the plastic was there for.. When in doubt contact the tank mfg..

+1. Thats why I don't use. The plastic trim on the bottom distrubutes the weight. The foam puts added pressure on the bottom pane of glass bc most people use too thick of foam. Like stated above, if it has trim on the bottom I wouldn't use it.
