I have several mushrooms on a rock. When I first got them (about 6 months ago) they were quite large. Since then they have steadily shrunk to less than quarter size. I have tried moving them up, down, in the light, in the shade, partial shade etc etc. and I cannot seem to find what type of light they like.
Parameters; temp 80, alklinity 9.6 DKH, calcium is 400. ph runs on the low side 7.98 to 8.07 and has for months, magnesium 1300, the last time I tested a couple of months ago I could not get any nitrate readings.
I have 2 plate corals, a candy cane coral, a brain coral, some GSP, a bubble coral and a large forest of frogspawn. (6 heads to about 15 or more in very short order, these things are like weeds.) I also have a montipora that is growing quite well.
I just can't seem to make the mushrooms happy. I have some algae but it's not overpowering. I try to keep it under control.
Any advice would be welcome. I have 2 ea. Tunze 6055, 2 ea. MJ 1200, and a pretty good skimmer.
The tank has been up for 18 months now.
Thanks,
Pat
