Okay so my tank has been up for about 8months and my rock have yet to grow any coraline on the rocks. Can anyone help me out to get it to start growing. Thanks in advance.

Hey Mario, I found out that if you keep your ph high 8.2-8.4 and good flow is the key.

Stable PH and CA.. adding Magnesium helps. Once it starts, you'll wish it wouldn't grow on EVERYTHING! Hermit crabs love to scrape/eat this off rocks, tank, anything..it should help keep your tank from looking like Barney died in your tank.

my ph is steady, alk is also steady and cal the same. I does both kalk and have a cal reactor and they keep up with my demand. Ph goes from 8.1-8.3 all day. My cal is at 425 and alk goes from 10-11. It will start to grow but then dies off not sure why.

Some of it dies when you do a water change and you take a while before refilling. According to Anthony Calfo, this is due to the excess light it gets out of the water.

I would test your Mg, and also try to stabalize your pH at 8.3-8.4.

I am 100% agreed.

i think coraline grows best under low light. my nano with pc's has tons of it but my 100g with 400w halide has minimal. i wish i could grow it too - so nice and purple!

i remember when your tank was crazy purple with the single 250w. i guess you can't have the best of both worlds.

I havent test mg yet but I dont think that should be the problem I do have mg granules in my reactor. But let me check it out. I think its something else. Even my 20g thats been up longer then my 90 had verry little on the rocks.

I'm always wondering if lighting is the issue because steve (reefer714) is getting some good coralline growth with his 1000 watter. But i guess it is on the bottom of the tank.

Mario, check your strontium levels. I was always having problems until I recently started dosing. Kalk does wonders w/ adding cal & alk but it does nothing for mag and stron.

When I was trying to build up my coraline levels running the acinics 24 hours a day for 3 weeks along with dosing purple up built it up quickly and effectively.

That's the only thing I dont test for or even dose. I heard the it does help on growing coraline. I will have to try it.
