 Just installed a new 5 step unit. It is hooked up to the washing machine hose in laundry room. Husband tried to hook it up with a y connector so I can use both the washer and unit at the same time. Unfortunately, It sprayed us like a water park. So Y connector off and unit hooked up to washer hose (until plumber can come) Want to know how to store unit when not in use. Do I need to drain the water out of units or will it be okay just hanging out until I need it again? Will the water get stagnant?

you definitely don't want to drain the water out, you have to keep the membrane wet, if it was to dry out, then you would have to replace it, when you assembled the unit, the membrane should have been packed in a air tight bag with fluid to keep the membrane wet.

As for when not using it, don't do anything, if it was to sit for long periods of time just throw away the first few gallons when you need to use it again and then your ready for some more good r/o water.
