Best way to put carpet anemone in tank?

I just got a carpet anemone and it is acclimating while we speak...
I have 28" deep tank, and its real tough to get down there.. I do have one of those coralife grabbers, but they're not the best.

I have a perfect spot picked out for the carpet in the bottom left part of the tank on a big rock... What would be the best way to get him in there?

Well you will have to hold him there till he grabs it with his foot. I would turn off all flow well you are trying to do this. also if you touch the foot it will not sting you. if you touch the tenicals ouch :)

it may not stay where you want it. it needs the proper flow and lighting and if that spot is not it then it will go looking for it.

I understand... I have gloves to use too so that is good... How long do you think it'll take for the foot to stick?

When I had my cold water tank, I use to stuff the anemones into a crevice or trap them with a stout plastic tube - or even a rock :-).

However, they never seemed to like the spot I picked out for them and would move.

I never had a carpet anemone but it is my understanding they like to move as well.

As for how long it takes. The last one I tried to hold in place took over an hour. Thus the change in tactics.

Did you research carpets? Be careful with your fish. I think carpets are the most sticky when it comes to anemones. They can make a snack of your fish in no time at all.

I also one time saw a video which really ticked me off... this dude was jamming fish onto his carpet making it eat them... talking about how it is natural... if it were natural the carpet wouldnt need you to force the fish in it's mouth

That is funny......Some people are weird.....I would feel guilty putting a live fish in an anemone.

I think you are correct. I wish you luck with your acclimation. I hope the carpet stays were you want it. I have about 5 BTAs in my tank Knock on wood they all stayed right were I placed them.

thats awesome... i just noticed that the mouth of the carpet looks like its inverted, sort of like a bubble out of its mouth... the carpet IS moving by itself so i know its not dead... but would you happen to know what this means?

Was it live or a silverside?

Could mean it is just getting used to the new tank. Every night my GBTA's always look like that. As long as your tank has been established for a good amount of time and you keep up your water quality up you will have no problem.

Good point rhiggs......I assumed they were live fish. Silversides are what you should feed but you should never force them. If they want to eat they will take it. I found the best advice HERE
