Best way to remove frag plugs from lps?

I've heard everything from pull, pry with a screwdriver, split with shears, and just cut off the bottom of the frag (seems like a bad idea).

I just got a couple acan frags, frogspawn and duncan. I want to remove the plug for several reasons and put them on rock rubble instead.

Also, how about mushrooms? I have a ricordea that's on a tile with all sorts of algae. I know it has to attach it's own but how do I get it off without cutting it's foot off?

I take a scapel for my ric frags and slowly work them off the plugs.

For my acans and LPS I either use the scapel or the bone cutters wedged against the plug to set them free. Dont have to be that forceful as it is only superglue typically and it snaps off with minimal effort. I then clean the remnants of the glue off of the frag before remounting

honestly a clean flathead screw driver.. works like a charm

For the LPS I'd use a chisel over a screwdriver, has a large tapered end rather then a screwdriver that has a flat edge. As for shrooms and richs I'd use a long blade scalpel or a sharp knife about the length of the plug or longer and make sure you hold the stem and not the plug base.

For the rics, work as in seperate or cut? I feel like it'd be hard not to slice em off.

Makes sense, chisel would probably be easier. For the rics do you cut the bottom off or can u get them to seperate that way?

The fine scalpel perfectly works under the foot of shrooms. Don't have to cut the mushroom but the thin super glue...

The shrooms aren't glued to frag plugs, they are attached by their feet.

Guess it depends where you get them. Most of my rics have been glued.

Regardless same principle with the scalpel. Slowly ease across to have foot lift for relocation
