Best way to remove sps frag from plug?

I bought a Blue Millepora frag that is on an unsightly black plug. None of my rocks have holes big enough to hide the plug in.

Do I just pull it out of the water and quickly saw it off?

just break it off. It sounds like an ORA frag, there plugs are very ugly, but corals are great. Dont be afraid of exposing it to air, so long as its not out for an extended time.

When i glue frags to plugs i like dry the end w/ a towel so it glues better.

Maybe soft corals not sure never had them really. But for Sps I've always just broke them off. Some people will use bone cutters that come in fraging kits but most just break them off.

A razor isn't going to cut through the calcium skeleton very easily anyway.

I'd say break it off and put plug in bottom of tank in sand bed and maybe a polyp or two stay on it and it'll grow back and then just continue the process. lol.

Interesting. Guess I figured you'd just cut it at the very bottom with the razor. Thanks for the information.
