Best way to ship anemone

Getting a mag from a guy in New Jersey and he is sending it to me in Alabama. He said FedEx told him they did not ship live animals and UPS is trying to charge 120-160 bucks. Has anyone shipped a nem, we need help on a lower rate. Are they up charging because he's telling them it is a live animal?

Don't say it's a live animal. Even though they do it all the time. Fed ex is way to go anemone should be packed with just water tightly bagged. Should be like a ball shaped if done right. Shipping nems with air can be harmful and sometimes cause air bubbles. Pack in tightly in middle of box with heat/ cold packs and stuffed styrofoam and news paper to prevent the nem from moving around in the box.

2 gigs were shipped to me in California from Chicago through FedEx, and they are doing great. I paid about $200 for shipping.

I live in N.J. tried to ship out a nem . Almost impossible the rates they wanted to charge were through the roof. Mention water and you have just committed a crime.

Will they not ship water or are you saying it cost a ton. Definitely going to be at least $100-$120.

Fed ex ships plenty of packages that are clearly labeled live fish. It's expensive but they ship overnight. They care about size and weight. What in the box doesn't matter unless its hazardous materials of course. Try this site for a discounted rate

Will do as soon as possible, had to head back to work. Mag looked great upon arrival, inflated, mouth closed, no waste in bag. Previous owner had it over a year, so I'm expecting success. Before I left it was attaching on the upper end of one of my rock structures, I shut powerheads down and added screen over tank until I return home.

About 1 hour in tank, still have powerheads off and screen blocking some light. IMG_0313.jpg

They do, it's overlooking their policy which really is supposed to be no live animals.
I was recently reading they will not cover anything that we insure due to this policy or do anything for you in the event something goes South.

I know I'm late to the party on this reply, but just FYI I had a couple clowns shipped directly through the airport, the drawback is you have to actually drive to the airport to pick up, but it's MUCH less money.

Both my clowns were packed individually, well over a gallon of water each bag, $45 from NJ to CA
