I got this by getting 45% off a subwoofer for an Open Box deal.

The subwoofer is 650w. It was so loud, I immediatly disconnected it for fear that it would crack my tank. I bought it for my dorm room's common room for watching movies and listening to music.

Has/does anyone worry about their tanks cracking from too loud a sub? Anyone with a loud sub close to their tanks? I'm interested in hearing what others think.

I have my home theater set up in the room next to the fish tank, sometimes when I am by my self I crank the volume to listen to music and I have never had a problem, the system has a 750watt self powered Sub and the rest of the system has 1500watts of amp,

Hehehe.. Now thats what I like to hear Rogger... Is it in the same room, or next room over? Tick one more thing for me to see at Rogger's house I guess I can stop worrying now. I was going to email both Klipsch and All-Glass to ask them directly about it... I wonder what they would say.. Wonder if they would advise against it.... Hmmm...

Once I bought a fish (FW) and on my way home, the radio station was playing a song that I hadn't heard for a long time, so I naturally crank up the stereo while completely forgetting about the fish in the bag... when I got home it was floating belly-up in the bag. I blamed the LFS and they gave me a free replacement... lol.

Not sure if it was the loud bass that killed it... what I do know is that it was lively and swimming around when he was bagged, and 20 minutes later it went belly up... it had been exposed to a very high level of noise for at least 10 of those 20 minutes.

It only takes 45 seconds of exposure to "Achy-Breaky Heart" to kill even the most hardy breed of fish.

Bad country music has been know to kill not only fish, but cats and dogs as well.

The only way way to crack the tank is if the subwoofer was creating a pressure inside the tank and it was airtight. The only way the pressure could relieve itself is if it cracked the tank. Don't you guys watch mythbusters on Discovery? They tried it with a subwoofer in the car and couldn't get the glass to crack because the air found ways out. No worries on this one.
