Beta of new Apex firmware now available!

/nphMpeg4/nil-640x480 gives me a file download that never ends

I'm guessing here because I don't know that camera but unless you can get MJPEG format, it's not going to work. Having said that, I do believe from what I've found that it supports a MJPEG (Motion Jpeg) stream.

Try this:

/nphMotionJpeg?Resolution320x240&Quality=Standard

Of course that's after your IP address / hostname and port.

I found that info in this document on page 56: http://csj.psn-web.net/netwkcam_net/download/us/document/NEW_Camera_CGI_Interface_v4.30.pdf

No, but you'll need to configure a new port forwarding rule in your router. Do it the same way you did your controller but use your camers's IP address and your camers's port.

Then to access your camera remote, use your controller's DynDNS hostname like you normally would but append the camera's port instead of your controller's port.

If you did all this correctly, you should come into your router (DynDNS takes care of that) and as soon as your router sees that different port, will route the packet to your camera's IP address that you defined in the router.

My router wont let me make 2 of the same type Service name, (IE) im using Telnet and Http for my apex. or do you know any way to get pass that

post the relevant page from your router config.

you're going to make a new entry, give it a different 'computer name' or whatever the field is called. Call it 'camera'. It will have a different IP address and different port. There shouldn't be any conflicts at that point.

"telnet" and "http" are just common standard names for port numbers 23 and 80 respectively. Chances are if you are creating a forwarding rule you are using the standard port numbers referred to by name. There should also be a type of rule called "custom port number" which will allow you to create a new one. Stay above 1024 or so to avoid conflicts. Most of us use 1080 or 8080 for http and 1023 or 8023 for telnet.

Okay I updated my system and now my entire apex is down. Is there any was to recover the system? I cant even ping it. All I get is a flashing amber light.

HELP!

I updated both firmware and web pages. Restarted the apex. Cleared browser cache and cookies. I get the new style pages, with the logo on top. Everything works fine except the dashboard. Its a blank screen. All of the dashboards. Status works... but no dash.... I redid everything twice. Nada.....

Im having the same problem, eveything works ecept the dashboard. Any ideas??

Are you sure ALL of the web pages loaded correctly? Sounds like something didn't load correctly.

You can reload the web pages without reloading the firmware again. Just fire up the utility loader and click the Update Web Pages button.

this is what i did,

in my router i selected Lan Settings

Reserved my ip address, and called it camera, with the mac ID

in this setting there is no where to put any port numbers or anything.

this is what im talking about i believe im getting confused at this part. my apex is set to Port 80, and my webcam is set to 8080, but i cannot make another server and reserve it.

this is my webcam setup display

i reserved that ip address (192.168.1.16) in my router with the MAC id and called it camera.

Remember you have to save the video tile URL dialog box separate from the Dashboard.

Still trying to get the camera to work. I'm saving in both areas. Have even tried reopening the editor and saving again for redundancy. When I navigate away then back all changes are reset to the default. BTW this is on windows 7 ie9.

Forgot to include the neverending download is when I test it outside the dashboard by entering the url.

What camera URL are you using? Let me try it on a test system here. If it's not a valid videostream URL maybe it doesn't save.

edit: I tried a completely bogus URL and it saved it just fine on my test system (Chrome, Win7).

Bob, under that "Service Name" box there should be one for "Custom" then you can use the standard 80/http for the apex and create a 1080/anyname for the camera.

Browser version? Most notably; IE10 and Windows 8 will show dashboard outlets but no graphs.

Guys, figured it out thanks aquamanic! and everyone for helping me, Henry, i made a server with a port of 1000, starting and ending, switched my port on my webcam config, and it reseted and now it works..

but is there any way a guest can see my video? i might have to look into that.
