Beta Test Apex WAV

Hello LIRA comrades. I have been lucky with an opportunity to be a beta tester for the new WAV pumps. I will be publishing a detailed video eventually but here is a little teaser of information.

Some pics showing size and a comparison to the Tunze 6105 and 6055 pumps.

These have crazy flow. I am running them at 18% in my 36"x36"x12 frag system and they are rocking my plugs around. at 100% it becomes a detritus storm... They may be overkill for my 60 cube. I should know by next weekend...

well all is going well so far. I will probably be moving these to the DT this weekend.

I noticed you need a new module to run these.
Does it have flow patterns similar to Vortechs?

Yes they do, There are several. But the web site and beta modes differ a bit. You can sync or anti-sync the pumps. They are very quiet. well at least that I can tell in my fish room. Once I get them to my DT in my living room, I will know for sure.

I'm eager to see results. I run the vortechs off the Apex with a WXM and was thinking of upgrading to the new QD ones.
If this is as good and as quiet as the QDs then that will be a deal breaker.

Well these are way more quiet than my standard ecotech mp10's. But I don't have any QD's to compare them too. Also they are in my fish room right now so its not as quiet as my living room. I may be moving them to the DT this weekend...

I got them in the display tank today. Much more quiet than my ecotechs. I can only have these up to about 38% before the sand storms start.

Do you notice any increase or decrease in power consumption (apex graphs) or any increase/decrease in tank temperature that would indicate if these pull more or less power and if the generate more or less heat.

Is it possible to get a wave motion going with these?

Just a quick stop in here to give you guys a couple of answers:

1. Our testing with multiple sound level testing devices shows the WAV quieter than the MP40QD.
2. Our testing also shows the WAV at <35W AT THE OUTLET at 100% (>4000gph) - this is the measurement that truly matters and what we choose to publish. Many others show the power at the pump and ignore the true power consumption at the outlet that must take into consideration the efficiency loss that all the DC power supplies have.

By wave motion I am guessing you mean sloshing back and forth in the tank? absolutely. You just need to adjust the timing to get it right. Cant do it in my tank. too much water winds up on the floor.

I will look at a graph comparison on my tank. But but I would be comparing it to my MP10's. These are way more powerful than MP10's...

Nice video man. Sounds like I might need one :)

These should be compared more inline with Tunzes for noise levels since they are not external motor drives like the Vortechs :)

Any updates on these? Are they a wider flow pattern then the vortechs?
Thinking of getting 2 of these for a 5' tank. Currently running a gyre and a wp40 but the wp40 just died.
