I just bought two maroons in hopes of pairing them, one is significantly larger than the other. While acclimating they were fine, but the second they hit the water they went to war with each other.
I know bickering amongst clowns is normal, and that maroons are highly aggressive...but I'm concerned maybe this is a bit much. They are locking mouths (which I think I read is a sign of two females?), grabbing and holding onto fins and really having at it.
How do I distinguish between normal sexing squabbles, and a threat to the health of my fish? I've never had other clowns fight this much!
