Big Blue carpet and KICK ICH

About a week ago I purchased a large blue haddoni drop shipped through my LFS. I aclimated it for 3 hours and added into my main display directly under one of my MH. He was very, very sticky at the time. A day latter my Helfrich's fire fish and others got a serious case of ich, so I started to treat the tank with KICK ICH. At the same time however, my carpet has lost its stickyness and has started to go way down hill. It can close its mouth completly, but much of the day it keeps it open and at night it opens its mouth as fare as it possiably can. One, is the kick ich detrimental to the health of my haddoni? Two, can I stick a piece of krill into its mouth in hopes that it will feed? Oh, and three, is there any hopes of saving this animal?

Thank you,
DWD

1. Quite possibly. Myself and many others don't recommend the use of such 'reef safe' medications in actual reef tanks.

2. No. Putting foodstuffs into the mouth won't help much. Attempting to force feed an ailing anemone can damage it and make things much worse. Instead, place it close to the mouth and hope that it feeds. Maybe lower the water flow around it to facilitate this (and also try it at night). Also, try to feed silverside or another fish meat. Fish meats seem to stimulate 'carpet' anemones more, IME.

3. Hope, maybe. I will be honest with you in that, at the moment, things do not look/sound good.

Now, some questions for you:
1. can you give a list of water parameters (as complete as possible, preferably with actual number values, please).

2. Other inhabitants (fish, other cnidarians, i.e. anemones, corals, etc).

Temp: 80
Salinity:1.024
Nitrites: 2ppm (due to protien skimmer not running because of medication)
Nitrates: 10ppm
Cal:400ppm
Alk: 8.6DKH

Fish:
1 Fireball Angle
1 Golden Angle
1 Sunrise Dotty Back
1 hosting Ocilaris clown
1 green Maderian

Corals- Some LPS and Softies including a large eligance but it is on the other side of the tank. Sould I strip the water with Chemapure and hope for the best?

Partial water change, carbon- chemipure, and get your skimmer running. I am a little concerned that your nitrites are also raised, nitrates at 10 will not be a problem, but even low nitrites or ammonia can be fatal.

Do you have a Q tank that you could move the carpet to for a few days? May help it with reduced flow, lower lighting.

good luck
Ron

I do have a QT tank, but I was worried that the move may kill it due to sudden change in water peramiters. Which do carpets react to worse water conditions or sudden change of water conditions?

Do a drip acclimation to the Q tank water over several hours and he should be just fine. If he is on a rock take the whole rock, if in the sand lift out and place a 2" pvc ring about 2" high in the Q tank and set him in there for the time being, he should not move about then.

The nitrites are more of an issue then going to the new tank at this point.
