Big bubble inside one gill on Dusky Wrasse

Noticed today that my Dusky Wrasse has a big bubble stuck on the inside of one of his gills. Can't get a picture of it because he swims around to fast. It is clear looking, his one gill is flared out because the bubble is kind of big. He is breathing faster because the bubble is taking up most of the room in his gill. Swims around normal and eats fine though. Anybody have any idea what it could be? If so what is the treatment on it?

Might be a growth/tumor of some kind. This is one of the few times I can think of when a cleaner shrimp might actually be useful by possibly eating/tearing the "bubble" off. But how big is this wrasse? Wouldn't want him eating the cleaner shrimp!

If it doesn't go away on it's own, and you notice it's getting bigger or he's getting worse, then you might need to perform surgery. You might be able to tear it off with tweezers or cut it off (carefully) with a sharp scalpel. Obviously, "surgery" on a fish is very risky and should only be done as a last resort. But if you think he's not going to make it with the bubble still attached, what do you have to lose?

And if you do attempt surgery, be sure to anesthetize the fish with some MS222! Do not do that on a living squirming fish!

I would say he is about 6 inches long. I think he would tear apart a cleaner shrimp. Not getting better or worse, kind of stable. Just worried about his long term health with his more rapid breathing because of the bubble to compensate for oxygen intake.
