Big news for angelfish fans of RCT

Hey guys, I just returned from another trip to Hawaii... among many other things I met up with friend Frank Baensch of Reef Culture Technologies, the first person in the world to captively spawn and raise saltwater angelfish, and still the only person to do more than one species (currently at eleven and one hybrid). I cannot elaborate much on it... and will not mention species or quantities... but Frank was okay with me mentioning this... :)... for the first time in years...

Frank has angelfish again at his facility...:bounce3:

That is terrific news!! i often visited the website but it wasnt updated, This is where the hobby needs to be breeding the fish . I wish him much success!!

YES! I knew this was coming, but it's great to see it publicized like this!

Copps, any idea how long until he'd have some to sell? Are we talking weeks, months, or years? :)

Also, any help in getting on the "short list" would be much appreciated!

Great News! I think im gonna go after a pair of Interruptus, unless I can afford the Debelius!!!

John Do you know if he will be working with any angelfish he hasn't breed yet?

Im also very interested to hear an availablity timeline...

i was waiting for this
i heard from Daniel that a pair of extremely rare angels was going there

The real question is when will the website finally be updated

His website is accurate... no angelfish for sale this year and he has been working on other fish families... :)

Still unknown as to when... but the wheels are in motion... don't even bother emailing him yet... he'll announce when things are ready...

I've always known Frank to be amazing, but the respect he garners from other amazing people in the field never ceases to amaze me! Frank's PhD adviser called him one of the best students he's ever had. Last year at MACNA in Atlantic City Matt Wittenrich spoke directly after me and we had lunch afterwards... Matt is the young author of one of the new bibles of marine fish breeding and this year's winner of the MASNA award. Matt is in complete awe of the work Frank has done in the world of fish breeding...

Even more amazing is that Frank garners the same respect in the world of underwater photography (his site is bluereefphoto.org), and windsurfing (he's been a professional windsurfer for years... He's a legend in Hawaii and known throughout the world... google search his name and windsurfing and check out the videos!)... when I first met him years ago when he was starting up his boards were right next to his angelfish! :) On top of all of this he's a lax guy that is great to hang and have a beer with... :)

Welllll, I guess we're not too far off for 2011. I'm hoping for a pair of Interrupta as well, we'll see what he's working with.

Also, working with "other fish families?" I'll be interested to see what that means!

My 3 year old son really enjoyed the photos from his blue reef website!!! He loves to sit in my lap and click on the fish!!!

Well that didn't take Reef Builders long to read this thread... :D

Hahaha, as was I! Copps, saw your comment, does anyone have pictures of the Xanthic C. Multicolors? I'd love to see what a fish like that looks like!
