Ok i have a big problem. I have a mag 9.5 return pump. when i unplug it for some reason it turns my return pipes into a siphon. I dont know what this is happening does anyone have any sugestions?

i have a pvc pipe going to a T split outside the tank then that send the water to 2 pipes that are underwater with a elbow on the end. these are over the top of the tank outputs because i couldnt drill

Drill 2 small hole just below the water line on your return pipe. This will break the siphon when your pump is off.

You can make a siphon break. Make several small holes just below the water line. When the pump stops the holes will start sucking in air and break the siphon. Make sure you ahve enough room for the water that will come in before the siphon breaks. Also, make sure not to drill them too high as you could be spraying water everywhere.

You need to put a siphon break in the return lines. Basically, drill a hole in the PVC pipe right below the waterline. That way when the pump is off, the water will drain back until the hole is exposed to the air, at that point, air will get into the line and break the siphon.

HTH

EDIT< good lord I type slow :p

I'm watching you muahahahahahahahahaha :D

Yes just drill a whole or two about an 1" or 2" below water line on your return. Also you can put a check valve on return line for double the safety if your siphon holes ever get clogged.
