Big system, How much is your water change

Once I get my 180 setup with a 90 gallon sump, I will do 30 gallons whenever I have time to do it. I test my water on a regular basis so I guess I don't feel the need to change the water all the time.

Thanks. Certainly does look like a neat piece of equipment...

In short it automates changing your water. You can control how much is changed and how often or make it continuous all day long.... check out the reefkeeping artical on it:

One of the tank of the months utilized one, I checked into them when I read the artical back then they ran around $3000 though....neat piece of equipment.

i havent read the hole thread start till finish but i used to change about 30L every 2 or 3 weeks on my 350L but now its every month n the systems running good. but to be honest i think its up to the person and also whats in the tank...... coral, fish, skimmer, reactors etc. just my thoughts.... thx

700 gal system and I change about 70 gal every 2-4 weeks.

Water change consists of opening a valve under the tank and letting water drain down to the level of a mark on the side. Close valve then go to the 200 gal saltwater vat. Change the position of two ball valves and water goes from recirculating in the vat to pumped into the main tank. The whole process takes about 10 minutes and my hands stay dry. Ultimately, I'd like to automate this further so that I don't have to stand there and watch the levels/throw the valves at the right time.

I have approx. 400g total water volume and change about 45g every couple of weeks, very inconsistantly due to work. I use NSW and store it in a 165g underground cistern tank. Shut down my returns, skimmer, etc. drain the sump. Then pump new water into the sump to the previous level. I am still working through a plan to automate this process using my RKE. I have figured most of it out, but now I need the time off to actually do some plumbing and implement it. When it is automated, I will probably try to do 20g every 2 or 3 days.
