Big Tank Cleaning.

I got to a point where I can build a big tank in my house. Everything seems super simple, except one thing: how do you clean the glass in a big (let's say 4 or 5 feet tall) tank?

As of now I use the magnet in my small aquariums and it sort of works except some parts where the magnet can not go in. The magnet works, because the walls are thin. No more than 1/4 inch. This will not be true in a 2 inch thick aquarium. The magnet will not be powerful enough to stick. At least this is what I'm thinking.

Anybody with a big tank that can shine some light here? I really do not want to hire someone that will dive in every week into my tank and clean the walls.

My dream setup:
1. About 2000G
2. All glass (back wall could be acrylic if possible)
3. I do not want any algae on tank walls.
4. I do not want to dive in.

I have a 46" tall tank with 1 1/4" thick walls. The magnet works for my tank but I stopped using it a few month ago and switched to a 36" kent scraper. It does the job alot faster with fewer chances for scratching the acrylic.

Kent scraper is tricky for such a big tank. I would need a long scraper in a tall tank that is placed few feet off the ground in a 9 feet room. Meaning: I may not have enough room to move the scraper up and down.

How does the scraper work on acrylic? It does not scratch? Does it clean very well?

Contact on the magnet mfg's, I know they use a large magnet on acrylic @ Atlantis on LI
They might be able to build something.

^ Interesting. Last I read they were using a guy to jump in and clean it every week. We'll ask.

I did think about creating my own magnet, but was hoping someone has a thick wall aquarium in here that they clean without putting their hands inside the tank.

The first company that creates a robot for aquarium cleanup will make it big.

http://www.mightymagnets.com/floating and flat floating.html I use the F-12 model. It floats if comes off:) And yes its 520.00$ Its dangerous too. If your finger got caught in between the magnets you will probably loose it, seriously.
