bill addison and rod buehler

does anyone have information on these guys or a link to a page?? im interested in the development of the onyx perc and was looking for some good history and info on these guys. it seems like every once in a while you get one of those good long posts about the origin of the onyx perc and those guys are always in the mix. any info is greatly appreciated!

There are numerous discussion threads on RC as closer to realtime vs hindsight on the topic. Be ready to read many many posts if you want a complete picture. Having read most of the posts over the years, I'll see if I marked any of them Maybe Rod will drop in with some info, but cut him some slack if he does not feel up to repeating his portion of the story for the 10,000th time.

Matt's post on MOIFB is a good read regarding Addison and there is a great tour of C-Quest on a European site iirc. Keep in mind, when talking about the origins now, recollections have faded a bit.

I'm hanging around, but I am not sure that i have the answers to anything that hasnt been answered. Bill Addison did all the work. I just happened to get some of his best fish that have produced a lot of babies.

As far as I'm concerned there can never be enough good things said about Bill Addison. The man has lots of firsts under his belt. And he is one of the best breeders period. But it is also great just how many fish Rod is responsible for sending out into the world.

I think Bill Addison is a true legend in industry, but Rod has certianly help to bring his fish to the internet community. most people hear about Rod before Bill.

so lets get down to nuts and bolts. true or false

The only Real "Onyx" clownfish come from the selective breeding at c-quest. all other "Onyx" clownfish are just percula with alot of black?

Yes, Bill is a great guy and put a lot of sweat and money into breeding marine fish.

Without a doubt Bill is the best to answer the questions. If you can get ahold of him that'd be by far the best - straight from the horses mouth. Don't forget about kerusso316 - Mitch with Booyah's Onyx. He's another Onyx breeder. Are there any more large-ish scale Onyx breeders? Talk to as many as you can, find out as much as you can. In my experience, you'll probably have a harder time getting breeders to stop talking your ear off than getting them to start! When you are as proud of your accomplishments as they all are, it's tough not to get excited when someone REALLY wants to hear what you have to say.
