Bio-Load question

Due to some unfortunate events or fortunate depending how you look at it. I have aquired 3 small tangs. For now I would like to put them in my 65, and in a few months move them to my larger tank. DO you guys think it would be to much load on the tank to add all 3 at once? as of now in the 65 there is a pair of small false percs and a 6 line wrasse. I did not plan on having all 3 together like this, as my original tang was in QT someone brought in a small yellow tang to the VET yes the VET. I was there with my dogs, So the guy looking to just get rid of it gladly gave it to me. So I had 2 tangs in QT and did not see a problem adding the 2 to the 65. Now for the 3rd tang my buddy has a tang in his 28 gallon and as I told him it outgrew the tank and he is breaking the tank down this weekend. This fish doesn't need QT as it was the only fish ever in his tank and I QT'd it for him from the start. THe reason I ask is because it is 3 tangs. If it were 3 small fish(clowns, firefish, etc.) I wouldn't even care.

Well the tangs are a yellow, purple and a bariene. They are all 3"s and under. Not worried about them being in the 65 for a 2-3 months. This is not their permanent home by any means. Just more worried about a bio load that large in one day.

I would be more then worried about the bio-load. IME purple tangs are very aggressive, even more so in a small tank. I personally watch one draw blood on a Clarkii clown.

The additional bio-load can be handled with frequent water changes, not much you can do for the aggression that will happen.

I'm not to worried about the aggresion as the purple tang is the smallets of the group, It is less than 2"s very small. That is the fish coming from my buddies tank. The yellow and Bariene are in QT together and getting along fine. The QT is a 29. Just more worried of the Bio-load. I do not wanna shock the tank but the fish need to come out of the 29 and move into the larger tank now. They will be placed in the larger tank areound February.

If you ignore the aggression issue (I wouldn't, but that is just me), I would serially add additional fish so the bacteria can catch up. I don't think I would add all of them at once because of the risk.

I'm not to worried about the aggresion as I have kept a yellow, Scopas, purple, black and sailfin in one tank together. The yellow is very calm as well as the bariene. Both are twicw the size of the purple. And from my experience purples really aren't that aggresive at this size. Just more worried of the bio load, I don't wanna start a mini cycle.

Could you put the two you have into the tank and add the purple to the qt. I know you don't need to qt it but it would give the 65 a chance to get used to the increased load. then either keep the purple in the qt until you add them all to the bigger tank or use one of those big eggcrate environmental acclimation boxes, when you add it to the other tangs.

You should be ok with adding them just feed a little every other day for awhile and keep an eye on the ammonia. How long has the 65g been set-up?

I was thinking of putting the purple into the QT, I'm thinking of just doing a 75% water change ion it first. Just to make sure its clean and then maybe add the purple 2 weeks later. The 65 has been up for 6 months I guess. Not real long but I know the fish will be fine in it. but it has a light bio-load now. It had a heavier one as I did have 3 tangs in there before. 2 I sold and the other is now in the 220.
