I am getting rid of Trigger and going w/ some Reef Fish. But my question is: Should I take the Trigger out now and let my bioload go down, or wait till I get some of the fish I want and then take him out??

Thanks!!

Switch the fish the same day.

Switch the fish the same day.

If the trigger is the only fish in the tank, I would purchase the fish take out the trigger and then add the reef fish. The removal of the bio load(trigger) will effect the bacteria populations, which increase and decrease with bio load levels.

Keep the damsels, they are great reef fish! just remove the trigger then you can take your time in selecting new fish.

I'm going to disagree with CaptiveReef. You're going to encounter some serious trouble with five damsels in a 75g tank. Be careful what reef fish you choose. The damsels might be really aggressive towards the new arrivals. But the general method above definitely answers your question though.

Damsels

Damsels

The only damsels that show any testicular fortitude are the Domino damsels, they can be real bastards, more so in schools.
The 3 or 4 line damsels, and the other damsels are more timid.
You may want to add the new fish together so the damsels will be busy dealing with multiple fish and won't be inclined to attack.
