Biocube 29 Build

Yea I have built a few of these DIY leds from Rapid, I figured it would take me a few hours. I am going to go slow and make sure it is neat and tidy. So are you running the aurora puck also? Got any pics of it in action?

Yep, Aurora puck as well. Added the storm controller for auto sunrise, sunset, clouds and thunder. I don't really use the clouds and thunder option. It was cool when I first got it but lost interest in it. I do love the auto sunrise and sunset though. I left the house a few minutes ago. I'll post some pictures when I get back.

Here is a before and after picture. Same tank, both pictures taken with the same camera and the tank is in the same spot. Only difference is iv'e added a few corals, anemones, and did some rock shifting. I'll try to take some more pictures tomorrow after work. Both pictures were taken during the day with the shades closed.

This is the stock PC lighting.

Nice. Thanks. I want to get a clam eventually also. How has it been doing under your lights? I am replacing the stock fans also, do you have any right on your heat sink or just in the stock position?

I've only had the clam for about 3 days and so far it's been doing great. But I've heard it can take a month or 2 before you notice if it's unhappy.

No fans on heatink. Seems to be doing fine without it. In fact I don't use the stock fans much since the upgrade to LEDs. But keep in mind my house is constantly at 70F. I don't turn off AC. It runs 24 hours

Id recommend at least roughly calculating the PAR for your setup to make sure the clam is happy. Ideally, I'd measure the PAR level directly over the clam. I've had clams die on me in the past, probably due to insufficient light. I'm blessed to be a member of a local reef club that has a member PAR meter.

OP - great looking tank, keep up the great work!

Thanks for the tip. Not sure what a PAR meter is. I'll do some research and see if I can get that done as soon as possible. Thank you!

This is the one I used. They're pretty expensive to own personally ~$350, but if you're lucky, a local reef group may own one. My local reefer organization, ORCA, has one that members can borrow. Sure beats owning one to use a few times a year!

I'd post to your local area forums, even if there isn't a group that owns one, there may be a fellow reefer that's willing to lend it to you, or even help you measure your tank!
