Biocube 29 Protein Skimmer in a 55 Gallon Mixed Aquarium

Done a lot of research as I've gotten started with this hobby. I've found success running a Biocube 29 skimmer, but I am curious if the success is limited.

Another consideration is adding a second Biocube skimmer thus doubling the work load to fully accommodate a 55 DT & roughtly 10 gal sump.

Any advice or words of wisdom is appreciated.

They do work "some" but are far from a "good" skimmer....
The "efficiency" of those is highly dependent on the air pump.. Pump a crapload of bubbles and it will work fairly well.. Not enough and ugh.. Having said that the airpump that comes with it is garbage and not nearly sufficient..

I had one running in my 40G breeder to start out with just because I had one laying around..
It pulled "some" skimmate..
But I have switched to an eshopps psk-75 and the eshopps pulls the same amount of skimmate in one day that the biocube 29 would pull in ~1 month..
Its not even close.. Running 2 biocubes would just be another waste of money.. Maybe if you ran 30 of them :p
save/spend your money on a real skimmer.. You've got plenty of room for an eshopps or reef octopus or aquamax hang on with a 55G tank if you don't have enough room in the sump for an internal skimmer..

Thanks! I'm looking at transitioning to a 90 gallon and obviously Ill really need a quality skimmer at that point.
