Biopellets and Two Fishies Reactor?

As I understand it, the biopellets need to tumble and have quite a bit of flow running through them etc.... I also understand that the two fishies reactor
is not really big enough for the amount of pellets I require on my 280 gallon reef system.....

Question: If I use 2 x two fishies reactors plumbed into my return system
for mega flow...will that work with the NP pellets?

Please advise your input/suggestions/comments.

Thanks for your help

From what I understand it should. I would worry about them clogging on the returns from your tank though - might cause a flood. There is also some debate on how much flow so a separate pump with a valve might be better.

I think he means plumbing into the return (not overflow, so there should not be issues with causing a flood) which should be fine using a T or some kind of manifold.

Ah I see, but where will the output go. From what I read it need to go to the input of the skimmer. So his tank may loose some/lots of flow since each reactor will need a pretty strong flow from what I have read. I think around 300 gph.

That's why he needs a T, or a manifold (which would be better because you can add valves). The return still goes to the tank, and the output of the rector can go to the skimmer like you said. If you have a good pump you won’t lose much flow on the return.

Present set up

Present set up

I presently have 2 x two fishies reactors running inline on my system
They each have their own valve and there is a master valve that can shut both of them down quick etc.....

The above reactors return to the overflow on my tank.....which is only 2 feet away from them and made it really easy etc....

I was thinking turn both of those reactors into NP pellet reactors anddddd
I can pump up the flow very easily with the valve on each one....

I dont understand where the flooding may come in and where the plugging up
may occur???? Are you talking plugging up the return frommmm the reactor to the tank might plug up?

The foam in the reactors will get clogged with bacteria & mulm. You can use some plastic mesh from an Arts & Crafts store, just cut the mesh and use inplace of the foam disks.

I read the first post wrong I was thinking the overflow pipe. If the pipe from the tank to the sump gets clogged and you keep pumping... No reports of the mesh getting too clogged, but I would make sure the eventaully is covered. The bacteria and mulm should go to the skimmer so most of it is removed. This is at least the way I understand all this stuff.
