I have a birdsnest that has really grown since I bought it and i was wondering how to frag it. Any suggestions would be greatly appreciated.

I'd imagine just like many of the sps, little snap off or even dremel a piece off and super glue (gel) it down to another chunk or reef disk. Not overly difficult ;)

If you don't mind me butting in to your local forum...

Birdsnest is a tricky one and it really is a shame when they get big because the inside of the coral dies from lack of light/flow. Every one I had that got huge ended up dying from the inside out.

Frag it into large peices. Pull the coral out and start at the back middle. Get your bone snips into the back side and look for a thick branch that will have the best odds of splitting it. You will get some damage due to all the branches but trust me when I say its better to butcher a birds nest then watch it die overnight because some food got into it and rotted causing it to rtn.

BTW: I work in Oklahoma close to Shawnee during the week and fly back home to Denver on the weekends. So I guess I am starting to become a local regardless if you want me to be one or not haha...

a rreeeaaallll okie would share pictures of their tank with us :P

thanks for the added info on the birdnest btw, I never had a colony get big enough to worry about all that so it's good to know. Birdnest is on my wishlist for my new tank project.

Big Red, How did the fragging go?

tkeracer, welcome. If you get stranded here, make it the weekend of CRASE in October. You won't be dissappointed.
