birth of 2 builds totaling 30k gallons

Rock designers,....wouldn't have thought of that. Andrew how long was your project in the plan stage before you ever started the actual build, and how detailed are your plans,...the big rocks in the tank before closing the last section ect, ect. On projects this large, installation of items are easy to get out of order or over looked. Do you have a general contractor overseeing the subs and do the scheduling for you... Last question, did you take out a permit,...don't think inspectors do inspections on 30,000gal aquariums every day. :lmao:---Rick

Think guys that undertake projects of this size,...sit back and ponder, how big should I build the next one. :spin1:

Rick was at least few months in between tank design and order placed. Jonathan at country critters is gc ing the fish tank projects and I have a gc for the house also. We drew up rock plans and alsojonathan has sketches of fish tank rooms and the equipment needed. In fact most of pumps and skimmers and sumps are already in storage. In took about 3 months for tank to get built so in all we probably had almost a year of planning. Models of tank were done also. The rocks were designed by Joe yaurillo on paper and now we need him and other rock guy to start cementing. I think getting more rock up and over is going to suck. That part we didn't plan. But sometimes have to improvise.

Good work so far gentlemen.

Glad to see a large tank be planned out and taken care of.

Ready for some snow?

really nice. Nobody does it bigger, better than Long Islanders!
Cant wait to see the equipment !! (and the livestock...) lol

I need to come up with the next Facebook so I can do something like this. Incredible, I can't wait to see this come together.

The wood tiles are really cool and will look nice. Did you consider the coral stone tiles? They are quarried from mountains that were once reefs. Kind of like saturnia, but more rustic with the coral skeletons. Used a lot for high end pool decks here in Florida, but definitely nice enough to use indoors too.

Finally one build thread where we will not hear from the tang police!

So I was going to start my 90 gallon Elos build thread today, I thought I was some hot stuff with that tank, now I do not dare show my face.

On a serious note, I am so excited for this. A system much like this has been my dream for a decade and for now it brings me so much joy to watch this one come alive.

Actually it is supposed to be perfect for barefeet. Described as non-slip texture. http://www.areastones.com/coral-stone.cfm I just googled "coral stone tile" and checked out the images. Pretty cool stuff. Apparently a lot of it comes from DR. I'm no interior decorator, just thought it would be cool since it is a natural stone and was an actual reef probably millions of years ago.
