TLDR: Reflectors for 60x24x24 SPS tank with reefbrite DIY strips in front and back for supplementation. 2x400 watt or 3x250 watt? Any reflector recommendations? I should add that if using 400 watt I would be planning on using a large (20x20") reflector for broad coverage.

Currently rocking an ATI dimmable T5 fixture with a DIY reefbrite style LED in front. Don't get me wrong, I like T5 and the color customization that comes with it, but I miss the natural shimmer and beauty of radium bulbs.

I'm adding another DIY reefbrite style to the back of the ATI fixture for even led coverage from both front and back and my plan is to eventually replace the T5 with halide pendants.

This is on a 150g 60x24x24 tank. I had lumenbrite minis on my 75 (16" reflectors) and I liked them.

I have a few questions. This is an SPS tank. Radiums are the goal so obviously mogul socket. What reflector would you recommend? 20" lumenbrite? If I went with 20" lumenbrite do you think I could get away with 2 reflectors instead of 3 if using 400 watt?

i would get the largest reflector you can find and go with the 250 watt. The 400 is more for a deeper punch into a taller tank. I run a single 250 on my cube, 48/48/24 i have the rock centered in the tank, so i can get away with a single bulb for now.

Thanks for the input. I'm thinking about the 3x cayman sun reflectors with 250 radiums on an e-ballast with HQI setting.

I would go with the 400w's and use the larger lumen brights with led supplement. If i could get away with all the heat thats what i would go with. Awesome for sps

The thought has crossed my mind. Here are some pictures of testing that someone did on a 300 DD. That's impressive par and spread from a single reflector in a 27" deep tank.
