:hmm4:so im in the process of taking down my 12 tank system and all i have left is a yellow head fibrilated morey eel about 12" in length . after about 12 hours of work today removing sand and cleaning all the tanks he seems a bit lonely .so i decided to clean out his tank too and as i was vacuuming it he came up and nailed my wrist ,blood everywhere ! he is so small but his teeth broke off in my arm and i have been picking them out for an hour . i am mad at him as i have given him a great home for five years and fed him all you can eat cocktail shrimp every week, and he does this to me ? well it just goes to show ya that you should never turn your back on your buddies as they may strike at any time . no hospital , no band aids ,but a bruised ego as i have been his friend for years and in the end he strikes out in vengeful rage trying to pull me under and drown me, I'm lucky he didn't pull me in or that would have been the end of me ! i never even asked him for rent or utilities and never has he bought me a meal ,or even offered . just goes ta show you how much all that effort was appreciated ,silly eel .:(
 
Damn Dave I hope everything heals up ok. But no matter what you still love em don't ya?
 
Ugh well that blows...Keep an eye out for infection, from what Ive heard that is the worst part of their bites. The joys of predation.
 
i will keep him till i can find a good owner as he doesn't fit into my future plans .still trying to get a couple of the damn teeth out of my wrist .they may have to stay for the night as they will fester up and soon fall out anyway .
any one want a very timid ,mellow ,easygoing ,killer morey eel ?

Oh wow,Hope your wrist is ok! Yeah as much as we like to think they are tame and our friend you have to remember it's still an eel! My Scopas of all fish tries to get me with his tail every time I put my hand in the tank"Im thinking what is your problem" Same deal (fed well,happy, ect...) One of these days he's going to get me lol
I would just keep a good eye on it and plz dont go to bed with teeth left in lol (think thats asking for infection) Anyhow sorry to hear and I hope your wrist is better :)

there's a bird joke that seems appropriate here....

sincerely, please watch the wound...and if your arm starts to go numb, as mine did when my snowflake got me, go see your doctor. there is also an excellent alternative to neosporin, IMO, it is a spray that delivers an antibiotic as well has a numbing agent that penetrates below the skin surface...Dermoplast.

hope your wrist heals well, probably cant work inside the tank until then, did you save the teeth, any pics?
 
woke up this morning and the wound is....................................fine ,nothing but a couple of spots where the teeth tore my flesh . they are scabbed over and feel like its okay ! thanks for the concern everyone ,it looks as though i wont have to put him in the freezer . ain't nothing but a flesh wound and im sorry to have to say i will have to work as usual . i am left however with the job of having to discuss this matter with my morey as i am looking to still be his friend .
