Bizarre Seafood In Vietnam

I want to share some pics. I'm just back from vacation at Ha Long bay in North Vietnam, the beachs is very nice, clean and sea food bizarre.

Was the mantis shrimp tasty I wonder how much meat you would actually get from a horseshoe crab?

Those large mantis shrimp are actually rather common here in New York. You just have to know where to dive at night. I had one for a few years. They eat them regulararly in Europe.
We also have billions of horseshoe crabs here but I didn't think you could eat them. They are all shell.
Those other crabs we call calico crabs and the clams are also common in most places.
I spent a year in Viet Nam and all I ate there was C Rations :lol:

the mantis shrimp is all shell just little meat compare to shrimp i rather eat shrimp 3 or 4 time more meat and the meat is not like shrimp I don't know how to explain but it melt in your mouth. the house shoe is the same alot of shell and alot legs but when they mix with papaya and spicy fish sause very good, 1 dish there are 2 house shoe there are very little meat.

I lived in suffolk county long island my whole life and there is tons of horseshoe crabs. I have never heard of anyone eating them imo thats nasty. :rollface:

I was in Tampa bay for 2 years, we catch alot of horseshoe and catfish and we just throw away. the saltwater catfish is not good. and horseshoe are die every at the fishing place because they catch and throw them back. but when i am in VN i saw people cooking them and every restaurant they have the horseshows in show tanks the horseshoe there alway come with a pair a male and a female together a female wrap the tail of the male like the pic. the horseshoe, mantis shrimp and claim are more expensive than 18- 24 pbl shrimp
