Why is it now that i have my t5s i get a ton of bubbles all over my tank including the bottom? It seems that ever since i have gotten my T5s they are everywhere including attached to my sps, lps, and softies. Really strange. Anyone else expierence this?

Are you talking about micro bubbles like from a skimmer or like bubbles on the substrate from gas exchange

Sounds like gas exchange if nothing else has changed. I get more when I replace my bubbles. Might just be a coincidence.

no sump/micro bubbles. Its all over my rock and bottom. I would consider more heat possibly? Is it at all possible maybe that the temp of my rocks from the radiant heat of the lights and the water temp are not equal and there for its like evaporating off of the rocks? Kind of a whacky thought but i am wondering if anyone else has seen this. It happen directly after i hooked up my t5's prior to that i had PC's. Really really wierd.

your T5s are probably brighter than your PCs. With my PCs on, I see no micros. When I turn on the halides, I can see them.

I haven't replaced my bubbles ever since I got them. Mainly because I just don't know how. Would you care to elaborate on this? :smokin:

Also, the aforementioned bubbles in the thread starter's tank may indeed be the result of poor plumbing of his T5's into the sump as Freed has mentioned. I, however, would also check my RO/DI unit for a possible Ich outbreak causing dinoflagellates. :smokin:

Im thinking it's dinoflagellate alge. If it's kind of snotty and trapping bubbles then I'm pretty sure thats what it is. The extra light could have contributed to bringing about the bloom.

It is similar to the bubbles you get under cyano, but dino's can be clear making it hard to see them.

Just curious, how would one go about testing pure water for Ich? TinMan

Do you have the T5's plumbed directly into your return?

I thought that was a joke :)

Microbubbles? I noticed more when I installed my 6x54w T5's. Also noticed more suspended matter too.

The bubbles on the bottom make me think of an algae outbreak that has the bubbles attached to the substrate (think cyano).

I get loads of micro bubbles when my lighting system is on full, my light work in 3 stages.

My 1st bulb of 150w comes on = no bubbles, then one of my 250w comes on, I get a few micro bubbles, and when my 2nd 250w comes on I get loads of micro bubbles (650w total).

I have a fair amount of macro algae in the tank, and I put it down to the xtra gas exchange caused by the intense amount of light. When the 250's go off, and I'm left with the 150w the bubbles stop.

Wouldnt i see microbubbles coming out of my skimmer? Its a bakpak so there are some bubbles coming out however they are all large.
