BK's 110 Gallon Build

After lots and lots of issues with a slate tile floor and trying to come up with solutions on how to make sure the stand and tank are sitting on a solid surface it's finally in its place.

Before it went on the stand I also drilled two holes for 1" bulkdeads for the drain pipes.

Looks good BK! Glad to hear the drilling went well. I wish I had know about that polarized filter test years ago when I set it up.

Looks good. The only issue I see is I would have to have a chair by the front door to sit and watch it:lol: then I would constantly be getting hit with the door. It really fits well there though.

Do I read a challenge? Oh wait Vick is backing out of this coming competition...:thumbdown

Hey you watch your mouth talking to me. If you were around for the last competition Smoothdog elected not to jump in the ring:lol:

I hope you enjoy your 110 tall as much as i do. I just switch out all my MH/VHO for two D120 Led Fixtures. Very happy So Far. Heres a quick Picture.

I wish you would have known about it too. Took about 30 minutes per hole and I chewed off my fingernails to stumps from being so nervous about it. Ha ha

looks good BK:thumbsup:

Thanks!

Ha ha. I will have a bench/ chest for shoes and a coat hanger thing on the opposite side of the tank for close viewing and storage but the view from my favorite spot on the couch is perfect also. TV directly in front of me and the tank just slightly to the side. I can see myself starring at the tank while Sponge Bob is on TV lol.

All I have to say is, you guys just wait!!

Hopefully you do not have issues with heating and cooling the tank with it so close to the door.

There is a heating and cooling duct in the area. The door is new and the windows are new and double pain. I think this was supposed to have 2nd door where the arch is. There is even a return in that small area.

I am a little worried about algae from all the light.

Made myself a simple skimmer stand. The skimmer needs to be between in 6" and 8" of water. The water line will be at 7" exactly.

I picked up the glass for the sump baffles. Before I made it home I managed to break one piece so I improvised.

I started to dry fit the equipment. Everythjng fits as planned but I had to find a spot for the MH Ballast. I just can't find a better location. This means that my two part reservoir will not fit there. Well see what I come up with for that.

Ok, now my pvc pipe and egg crate skimmer stand is feeling inferior. :fun2:

Will your ballast fit in the canopy? Are you still going to use one light or did you decide to go with 2?

ha ha. Those are the materials I had on hand so I just used them. Could have just as easily been a couple of soda bottles lol

The canopy is not as sturdy as the stand so I'm not sure if I feel comfortable with it up there. This thing is heavy! I plan on using one light to start but If I feel like I need 2 I'll re-connect the wire and I'm set.

Time for some updates.

I built the glass overflow box. Still need to build a cover. Trying to find a source for a couple of pieces of black ABS or Acrylic. Avoiding the wholesale hassle...

It's hard to see but it's on the right side. Where the Herbie overflow is. On the other side you can see the return from then pump.

Below I finished wiring everything as much as possible and plumed everything. I built a plenum with 3 1/2" ball valves so I can run some reactors and maybe use one of them for easy water changes.

On the other side you can see the return and the filter sock. I have to build the holder and find some filter socks I like. This one is the 2nd I'm trying but I already know its not going to work for me.

I also placed the light where I thought it would work best for my one column of rock aqua scape. We will see how that works out. It's angled toward the future rock pile.
