BK's 110 Gallon Build

Tested the drain lines and after some messing with them they are no longer leaking.

Bought a used RODI unit with extra filters. Took it apart and cleaned it. Added All new filters to the unit. When I took the charmer for the membrane apart I discovered that there was no membrane inside. There was a membrane that came with the package but it turns out it is not new and sealed like I expected it to be but it's the one that was removed from the unit. I tried it and no dice. Contacted the seller (local guy) by PM. I'm hoping he has the extra membrane I was promised and just forgot to pack it. I hope he gets back to me soon with good news or at least some kind of partial refund. I always had good experiences with locals so I'm hoping this will not mess up my experience.

I had to get water going so I went to HD and bought a crappy membrane for now. I'm hoping they will take it back when I tell them it doesn't work for me. It produces 12 gallons in 24 hours! That's seriously stinks.

Oh yeah, we have WATER!!! :)

Fired up the pump after rebuilding it last night and left the plenum open. Boy, can that thing push some water!!

Looks good BK! Glad to hear the drilling went well. I wish I had know about that polarized filter test years ago when I set it up.

What is "polarized filter test" you guys refer to? Is this a way to see if glass is tempered? If so, I'd like to hear about it... nice build :)

Half full!

I tossed a bag is salt and a tunze 6125 in there to mix it up. The tunze can push some water for sure.

Full and functional!

- The sump is running.
- The skimmer is running and pulling gunk already.
All the fine dust that came off the rock.
- Dialed in the heaters.
- Dialed in the Herbie. That thing is silent for sure.

I still have to build the topoff reservoir and the two part tanks.

Here is the aqua scape:

All of the water parameters tested in the correct ranges so I tossed in a couple of shrimp this morning to get the cycle going.

Note to self: There are exactly 108 gallons of water in the system.

(I know this because I lugged them up one by one from the basement in one gallon containers lol)

I was thinking of doing something similar with the rockwork when I originally set it up but didn't think it would work for me. Now that I see yours, I wish I would have done it that way.

Well, that's one way to find out how much water it holds, at least you got your exercise.

I like it for now. I'm sure in about a year I'll start hating it and wanting to change it. Coral placement will be a PITA for sure but it's pretty for now lol

I feel the burn! ha ha
