Black australian clownfish

ATA had them for $140 a pair or $80 for one but beware when you get stuff from there make sure its healthy. they had about 50+ a couple months ago i bet they have some still

heres there website www.atafish.com give them a call see if they have some left. just be very careful when buying fish from them look at the fish look at the fins look for ich and other things. when i get my fish from there i stay there for about 30 min looking at the fish i ask them to feed him to see if he eats.

from what i heard there have not been any new au black clowns imported t the USA for a while...

Nope, they have been coming in. I've been there when they were unpacking Australia:D They are breeding them in Aussie now. Those are the ones I snatched up.

I got mine from "morgman" here on RC, he is a bredder.
Very reasonable prices! Dennis

I also got mine from him and they are awesome! Good prices too

Another vote for Morgan's Black Ocellaris:

You want to sell me your pair and u get some from Eric?

not to be to off topic. how agressive are these guys? are they territorial like a marron? what are they prone to hosting. they do look awesome.

They're not territorial like maroons, but don't keep more than a pair in a tank unless you get them all at the same time as juveniles. They get pretty aggressive towards each other. Mine have hosted RBTAs, tunze pumps, frogspawns. But don't expect them to host rbtas right away.

I bought a pair of these for my first reef fish a year and a half ago. They are awesome fish. At the time, it was $80 for the pair! Unfortunately, one of them died, and I couldn't replace it because of a ban on wild-caught Australian ocellaris. I eventually got a tank-bred one from an ORA group buy. If not for a mis-bar on its tail, they seem identical to me. Go for tank-bred locally if you can.

As for aggressiveness, my female (bigger, dominant) has become very possessive of some Xenia and will chase other fish away. She'll also put the smack-down on the male clown every once in a while (normal behavior). But really, they're pretty harmless.

i dont know if there is a difference in regular black and austrailian black... i have had mine for a while... they paired up but not to my rbta yet... i hope they will soon... to me they seem very hearty...

not sure about australian, but i got my black ocellaris from Morgman as well. great guy to work with, helped me out a lot.

if you are looking for a LFS though, I'm pretty sure Coral Oasis has a pair or two. just call them up and ask them to be safe.
