Black australian clownfish

Group buys on fish generally don't work. 2 reasons.

1. Who gets the "pick of the litter?"................They aren't dry goods, so there is a difference in every fish.
2. Who "houses" the fish while waiting for people to pick them up? Some don't pick up thier GB items for weeks at a time.

On that note, however, good luck if you do conduct a group buy.....

I have a pair of Morgans as well B-E-A-UTIFUL fish. My older one has turned solid black, my younger still has a little orange (actually more red already). Their birth dates were 10-11-06 and 12-1-06. I believe they will both eventually be solid black.

my pairs are both 10-11-06. a bit orange/red on the mouth but will be all black.

Hey all just for your info, 98% of all B&W's will grow out of the orange stage. When they are young they start as orange and this fades to black over time.

When you see them at the LFS they are usually stressed and have poor color. This changes when you have them in your reef for a month or two.

In my experience, the females will usually have the most black and the males usually has more of an orange face if any at all. Of course this is after they pair up.


In general, if your B&Ws are orange they will darken up as the age.

I just pm'd Morgan, so i'll wait to see what he says...I am looking to set up 2 groups of clowns in my 120 gal semi-reef (some leathers, polyps and shrooms and 2 rbta's). The tank is very well established (over 5 years), but the only fish i have in there at the present time is a large but not at all aggressive Marine Betta. As I've said, I was thinking about 2 groups of clowns - one group for each rose bubble (the rose bubbles are both pretty large). I guess i was thinking about 4 or 5 b/w ocellaris and maybe 4 or 5 saddlebacks (the brown or blacks which are Polymnus). Do you think they would peacefully coexist in my 120? These are 2 of the least aggressive clowns I believe. Looking for your input and suggestions. Not sure if i should get 4 or 5 juvies or a few pairs or what. Suggestions?
