Black Bandit ANgelfish

That's great news that it's nibbling!
Hopefully those antibiotics will kick in soon. What are you using?

I am using Cipro as I know this is a very powerful antibotics. But the lumps on the head is causing me to be concern.

It ate late yesterday evening!

Cipro is a broad spectrum antibiotic. I am not aware of its use in the hobby. I imagine it can be used the question is how to dose.Any information you can share on dosing of cipro is appreciated.

Out of curiosity, what lead you to choose Cipro? Like the above post, I have never heard of it being used in the hobby. I think the Fish Pharmacy offers something similar. Also, has any of the white lumps ruptured?

I don't know about use on fish, but quarantine plus a cipro treatment is almost a must for certain anemones like gigs and mags. Let us know how the treatment on the bandit goes.

The lump hasn't rupture yet and I am not sure how to cure it.

I understand that Cipro is a very strong broad spectrum antibiotics. Since I am not sure what is causing the infections, I wanted to use the strongest possible.

So here is what I am doing:

Cipro 250mg 10 gal, Cholorquine Phosphate, and metro. If things go well, I will move onto Prazipro.

its not stress, but it did stop eating. Doing daily water changes to reduce ammonia and adding prime.

Any suggestions on dealing with the lumps? Do you have any idea whats causing it, Jason?

Lymphocytis maybe?

I remember reading a thread about someone "picking" off the lumps w/ a fingernail & then treating the fish & I believe it healed. Not suggesting you do that but, I do want to re-read what this guy did - I think he fish pulled through. If I find it I'll post it.

Not sure if it's relevant here, but it was interesting. If people think this was a result of poor collection, do you guys think a methylene dip is useless at this point? Can you post a pic of the bumps?

Definitely not lymph. These lumps eventually rupture and the skin and tissue wears away. It is actually quite nasty and disfiguring.

It does look like a raised pimple, a little fuzzy looking; and as it begins to slough away the middle of the lump ruptures. Once it ruptures, the skin around it degrades quick even in the presence of an antibiotic.

Id recommend discontinuing the Citr and dosing Sulfa 4 TMP , due to the recent change in condition and degradation in health

It is stronger, to a degree, but for certain circumstances that's the reason why its not necessarily better ...

After discontinuing the Cipro, medicate with erithromycin for 5 days and then remove and start with the Sulfa.
