Black Clown and Regular Clown

Are you able to mix these clownfish? It may be a dumb question but I figured I would ask just to make sure.

I would like to get a Black and White Clown, and possibly a Grade "B" Picasso.

Yes...black & white are ocellaris and so are picassos (I believe).

Either way, you'll be fine..just get two small juvi's and let them fight it out as to who's the female...I wouldn't go with two larger fish...

You can pair ocellaris and percula. Just make sure they are different sizes. There is never a guarantee when pairing clowns though.

agreed. Get the largest of one, and the smallest of the other that you can.

Yes, mixing Blacks are reg Occs are possible since I just paired my female up with a new male since the other had a tragic death.

So far I have tried or heard in the percula complex (aside from the obvious):

Black ocellaris + orange ocellaris
black ocellaris + naked ocellaris (DO NOT MIX in my 'lots' experience, but a breeder's did)
naked ocellaris + orange ocellaris
orange ocellaris + snowflake ocellaris
black ocellaris + snowflake ocellaris (ORA and other guy tried, I have not)
picasso percula + snowflake ocellaris (I think that's Doni's combo)

So I think it comes down to a general probability & that unique fish's personality at the end ;-D However I have not seen anybody with like a blue stripe + tomato (or even that combination in those complex for that matter)

FWIW the orange/black ocellaris are pretty much color-blind (not literally) but they do not seem to see each other base on their colour at all.

Thank you all for your input. I will most likely get a Black Ocellaris and a regular orange ocellaris. If anyone out there has a pair like this, could you please post some pictures. I like the color combination a lot.

I think the color combination in the tank would look great. I was a big fan of the Picasso clowns until I saw the black and white clowns.

Blacks are oscellaris. I think the closest to an all black percula would be an onyx and they are mostly black and white.

So I can mix an Ocellaris with a Percula with no problem? As long as the fish are of different sizes.
