Black perc and black sebea together?

I have a black perc already and ordered another, but when it came in it was a black sebea not a perc. So my question is what are the chances they'll get along? Does anyone have these fish paired up?

There is a slim chance. I'd be upset at the company you purchased it from though. I'd contact them and see what they have to say.

Just out of curiosity....... Do you have a black ocellaris or an onyx percula? Most people with perculas, that have alot of black on them, don't call them black perculas. They call them onyx. The ones that are really really black are ocellaris. Not perculas.

I added him already. He swam straight to the black perc in the zoa's it host. They both swam in circles for a while. Then they both took a couple nips at each other and both did the submission dance and are both swimming peacefully next to each other, however, when I shut down a tank I tried this withmy maroon and they did the same thing. A week later though the perc had the maroon in a corner and wouldn't let him out.

So is there a chance they'll be peaceful or are they a deff NONO?

The one I currently have is a tank raised black perc. It's about solid black with a little orange on the mouth and white stripes.

This is the exact fish I have. I guess it is a ocellaris. I thought it was a perc.

It was a LFS I got it from. I had him order it in for me. He ordered a black perc, the label said black perc. Apparently his supplier sells black sebeas as black percs. I only paid 19.99 for it so if they get along I'll be happy. If I had paid the norm 40.00 that would be a different story.LOL

I told him it was a black sebea and he said that's what his supplier sends him every time he orders black percs.

You got A.polymnus, not A.sebae ;)

I agree completely.

This is my pair,

It says black sebae? I don't know if it makes a difference, but mine has all yellow side fins and a yellow face,

Sorry almost all yellow side fins, and full face isn't as yellow as I thought. Uploading a pic right now.

What's the difference between A.polymnus and A. sebae?

All I can tell you that my male polymnus killed his female after a couple of years. There were other reports of the same problem. Polymnus are nuts. Not to mention the horrible habit of diving into anemones' mouths....

My pair has been pretty mellow so far --- granted it has only been 3 weeks. But, they will dive in their Haddoni's mouth whenever they are frightened.

Well crap. I wounder if he'll take it back? I told him when I ordered that I wanted a black perc. All black with white stripes.

Diving in the mouth would be pretty cool, but I don't plan on a carpet.

Is there a chance they would pair though. I wanted to work on breeding clowns. I have a couple year old pair of ocellaris. The female is pretty big. They're bonded, but no eggs yet.

After we talked about it he showed me his list and said he could get the wild caught black perc for 39.99, and I'm betting that's the one I want. He didn't have anything under black ocellaris. He said he was wondering if there was differnce between wild caught and tank raised. I told him there isn't, but I guess his supplier thinks so.

It might have been the other way around on tank raised and wild caught I don't really remember.

Get one small TR black ocellaris from liveaquaria or premium aquatics and call it a day. Now you have a reasonable, possibly successful breeding project started :)
