Has anyone ever noticed very tiny black specks on their coralline? They are too small to get a photo of. They just seem to wander about. does anybody know anything about these critters.

i would love to try to help you but.... i either need a picture of some sort a a much better in depth description......

when viewed with a flashlight they seem to be slightly reflective. these things are tiny. They don't show up in photos.

Not really , they are too small to get a good description of. There are lots of them. I am going to have a friend with a better camera try to get a photo. They are so small like tiny grains of black sand only smaller. They don't appear to have any body segments

yeah, i know what you mean, i am just trying to identify what it is and it is hard to identify an organism when the description in tiny black dot lol, cant wait to see a picture!

No these move around across the surface of the coralline. They also seem to stick to well established areas of the coralline. You know like the nice thick smooth parts. are there any known coralline pests out there?

kinda like this guy?
It is the little black thing in the center of the picture. If it looks similar to that, it is an ostracod.

Do a search on clam shrimp or seed shrimp.

Mine seem to have disappeared shortly after I discovered them so I dont know too much about them.
