Bucket feeding is your friend with new colonies. I have a few colonies that i am caring for at the moment for friends. I saturate the water with a mix of stuff: rotifers, cyclops, oyster eggs, NLS micro feeder, mysis, chopped krill and reef complete. In the beginning you waste a whole lot of food. But after they get to where they open once they sense food in the column your battle is half over. As soon as i get some of these black colonies to open consistently i'll snap some photos. They have amazing flourescent green mouths.
