Black Tang Fin issues

My black tang's fins are in horrible shape. Pieces are missing all over the place. They don't look like bite marks, but you never know. Other tank inhabitants include a bunch of anthias, a few chromis, and one golden pygmy angle. The only fish I could think would do it is the angle. However the angle does not show any signs of being in a fight with the tang. Then again the tang looks perfect except for his fins.

Could this be a crab or a disease?

TIA
Keith

First thing you should always check with a tang problem is water quality.

Test all your parameters and temperature.

I think it might be the angel... I once added a strawberry dottyback in with my black tang. The tang's fins were fine before I added the dottyback but once I added him I saw little rips everywhere in the fins. I never once saw the dottyback nip at the fins or go at the tang. (The dottyback was 2'' and the black tang is around 4-5''). Once I removed the dottyback, the tang's fins recovered right away.

I would remove the angel and see if the tang's fins heal up. Don't want to take any chances and lose a high $$$ fish...

luvtolean-
Way ahead fo you, everything is fine, I've been checking water every third day for a while to see if I notice anything strange, but nothing.

AI3- I am thinking of taking the angle out and see what happens. Now how to I get a small angle out of a 180 gallon reef with a few hundred pounds of rock in it...... I think I just got a headache.
